Mission

As stewards of this sacred building, we are committed to provide a cooperative environment for arts, cultural, and spiritual activities that enrich lives.

Programs

Grant Avenue Community Center serves approximately 2,000 people each month. Current building users include:

  • Alcoholics Anonymous
  • Alopecia Areata
  • And Beyond Theatre Company (an innovative theater group, which produces professional-level theatrical productions, and provides creative children's acting classes)
  • Arts for All (a dance school that provides a wide variety of dance classes for children and adults)
  • Bloom Church
  • Bonfils Blood Center (supplies blood to 200 health care facilities
  • Church Women United (an ecumenical Bible Study group for women)
  • Coats for the Homeless
  • Colorado Honor Band (award winning band consisting of more than 500 middle school and high school students from the Front Range)
  • Colorado Jazz Workshop (local adult jazz musicians)
  • Colorado Preservation, Inc.
  • Colorado Wind Ensemble (a world-class orchestra)
  • Dance Community (provides regular activities for Down Syndrome and special-needs young adults)
  • Grant Avenue United Methodist Church Congregation (established in 1890)
  • Harmony Chorale
  • Historic Denver
  • Impact International Church of Denver
  • Mandolin Orchestrae
  • Mile High Freedom Band (gay & lesbian adult musicians)
  • Mile High Harmonica Club
  • The Paul Green School of Rock Music (nation's premier performance-based music education program for students ages 8-18)
  • Sticking Fingers Cooking School
  • United Methodist Women
  • The Upper Room Church
  • Wartburg College West (provides career and urban life educational programs for Iowa college students)
  • West Washington Park Community
  • Many Non-profi Organizations hold meetings, seminars, and workshops

The historic sanctuary is used throughout the year for weddings. The banquet hall and the theater/auditorium are used for receptions and other community events. Additionally, Grant Avenue Community Center is part of the recently established "Grant Street Historic District."
